Sara turned three years old! The whole family was coping with the flu at the time, but we were all in good enough shape to celebrate with strawberry cake and presents!

Anri, Sara and Noah (who has temporarily reverted back to crawling here) are having fun running around a lakeside park in the Fuji Five Lakes region of Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. There was no view of Mt. Fuji that day -- going to this area is always hit or miss -- but the kids had a great time!

 Anri onstage at the Circus, April 2009

Anri got picked out of the crowd to appear onstage with the clowns at the Kigure Circus. The skit featured a clown spinning an enormous beach ball on his index finger. Then, they had Anri hold up her index finger and they placed the spinning ball on it.
(At the end of the skit, the clowns bow, but Anri forgets to bow with them. You can see one clown put her hand on the back of Anri's head to push it down just before the spotlight goes out. This is actually a common thing adults in Japan do to get children to bow politely.)

Just last week I took the time to get a video of Noah crawling, because I knew he would be walking soon. Well, tonight, April 25, Noah did just that. He stood up, took a few steps and then plopped down. And he kept trying to do it over and over again after that!
